The Combined Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor & Emergency First Aid Instructor course at Toronto Swim School is a comprehensive instructor certification program designed for individuals who want to teach swimming, lifesaving, and first aid programs in Canada.
This program follows the standards of the Lifesaving Society and prepares candidates for employment as certified instructors in aquatic facilities, swim schools, and community programs.

Swim Instructor Course
The Swim Instructor course prepares candidates to teach and evaluate basic swimming strokes and related skills across all levels of the Swim for Life program.
Candidates learn:
• Proven teaching and learning methods
• Stroke development drills and correction techniques
• Class organization and lesson planning
• Evaluation and progress tracking
• Leadership, communication, and professional conduct
• Administration and instructional responsibilities
Training includes both classroom and in-water sessions. Successful candidates are certified to teach and award all levels of the Swim for Life program.

Lifesaving Instructor & Emergency First Aid Instructor Course
This portion of the program prepares candidates to teach and evaluate lifesaving and first aid certifications.
Candidates are trained to teach:
• Canadian Swim Patrol Program
• Bronze Star
• Basic First Aid
• Emergency First Aid
• CPR-A, CPR-B, and CPR-C
Instructors may also teach and evaluate selected skills in:
• Bronze Medallion
• Bronze Cross
• Distinction programs
This course focuses on instructional techniques, evaluation standards, leadership, safety supervision, and professional judgment.

As Lifesaving Society Swim for Life, Swim Patrol, Bronze Medallion, and First Aid award guides and resources are required for this course, the following materials are included in the course fee and provided on the first day:
• Instructor manuals and award guides
• Strokes and skills USBs

• Minimum age: 15 years old
• Bronze Cross certification or higher
• Valid Standard First Aid with Cpr C
