National Lifeguard + Standard First Aid with CPR-C

At Toronto Swim School, our National Lifeguard + Standard First Aid with CPR-C program offers a complete, job-ready lifeguard certification pathway. This combined option allows candidates to earn both certifications efficiently while meeting all professional requirements to work as a lifeguard in Canada.

All courses are delivered according to the standards of the Lifesaving Society, with a strong focus on real-life scenarios, decision-making, teamwork, and prevention.

Program Overview

This program prepares candidates to:
✔ Respond confidently to aquatic emergencies

National Lifeguard (NL) – Pool Option

The National Lifeguard course focuses on advanced lifeguarding skills and professional judgment required in aquatic facilities.

Skills Covered:
• Advanced water rescues and victim removals
• Spinal injury management and extrications
• Emergency scene management
• Lifeguard surveillance, scanning, and prevention
• Team-based rescues and leadership under pressure
• CPR, airway management, and oxygen use

Training is practical, intense, and scenario-based, closely reflecting real working conditions.

Standard First Aid with CPR-C

This course provides essential first aid and lifesaving skills required for lifeguards and many other workplaces.

Topics Include:
• CPR-C (adult, child, and infant CPR)
• AED use
• Choking and airway emergencies
• Bleeding and shock management
• Medical and environmental emergencies
• Injury assessment and patient care

Prerequisites (Mandatory)

To register for the National Lifeguard portion of this combined program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum age: 15 years old
• Bronze Cross Certification (valid)

👉 Standard First Aid with CPR-C is included in this combined program if not already held.

All prerequisites must be met before beginning the National Lifeguard course.
